i’ve had citrus & salt on my must-try restaurant list for ages! for those of you who haven’t heard of this place, or aren’t local to boston, citrus & salt is a mexican restaurant located in back bay. they are “insta-famous” for their soft serve mimosas and beautiful pink walls. so when my birthday rolled around last month, i rounded up a few of my closest friends and off we went!
my friends and i went on a sunday around 1pm. it was very crowded! luckily i had made a reservation ahead of time on open table (a true lifesaver) so we were seated right away. once we sat down, we immediately ordered drinks! i treated myself to the soft serve mimosa, which is just as amazing as it sounds. the soft serve sorbet of the day was mango (which i absolutely loved!). my friends all ordered the beautiful liar, which was made with tequila, prickly pear, naranja, agave, orange flower water, lime and topped with a black lava salt rim. we also ordered the churro bites to share, which came with chocolate and vanilla flavored dipping sauce. so yummy!
the interior at citrus & salt is just to die for. it’s best describe as mexican inspired meets beachy jungle. from the lilly pulitzer looking bar stools, to the pink walls, to the pendant lights, to the hibiscus painted floors, to the string lights, to the mexican inspired wall murals and even the bright colorful menus. this place has it all. & it’s safe to say that i am obsessed! i couldn’t stop smiling and taking pictures!
also can we talk about this bathroom real quick? if you’re from boston, you’ve probably seen every single girl you know post a mirror selfie in this exact spot. i personally think it’s genius, and also hysterical. who doesn’t want a photo of a mirror with the words “i didn’t text you, tequila did”?! quick tip for anybody who ends up going to the restaurant and looks for this bathroom—there are actually two bathrooms, but only one has this wallpaper and mirror text. so make sure to go in to the bathroom on the left!
